Neon Bay

Neon Bay is an adult, text-based life sim with light RPG elements set in a near-future non-dystopian sci-fi world with mild cyberpunk themes and a spicy twist. The game features a robust NPC generation system that creates hundreds of unique characters with their own personalities, moods, interests, and schedules, making every playthrough feel different depending on who you are and what you're looking for. With friendship, romance, and physical attraction progressing separately, you might become best friends with someone you're not romantically compatible with, or have intense chemistry with someone you barely know as a person.

Explore three fully realized city districts (for now) - the Mall, Suburbs, and Downtown - each with multiple locations where NPCs gather according to their schedules. The game includes a comprehensive character creation system with extensive customization options, a career system to pay those bills, interactive adult content that happens when it makes sense in relationships and storylines, and all the amenities of a living city including random events, branching storylines, and emergent drama. Additional features include a functional smartphone with apps, time and weather systems, clothing and outfits, shopping and inventory, skill checks, and the ability to customize city demographics and seeds for nearly unlimited replayability.

This is an Early Access release with core systems that work and provide an engaging experience, with plans for additional districts, storylines, and features in future updates. The real magic happens through emergent gameplay as you navigate relationships and storylines in a world populated by NPCs who have their own lives, preferences, and personalities.

Regarding Generative AI: The only part of this project that was entirely created using Generative AI is the background shown in the screenshots. It is a placeholder and will be replaced with proper assets in a future update. Generative AI was used to assist with debugging and performance optimization of the code I wrote.

Regarding the Linux build: The Linux version of Neon Bay is currently completely broken and needs significant work to function properly. It will return once it's ready for use.
